Getting Organized

My decision to STOP buying shoes for a whole year was inspired by the fact that I already have a lot of shoes and boots. And all of those shoes and boots are not terribly well organized. This lack of organization caused me to wear the shoes that were easy to locate, ignoring (and sometimes forgetting about) the really cool ones in a box I can't see through that had been shoved to the back of the closet. I was not utilizing the collection that I had already amassed.  Plus my closet, which I share with my (understanding, patient and still frustrated) husband, who happens to have clothes and shoes of his own, was a disaster.

This is where I started. It wasn't good.

So I've been busy.

In a perfect world, ALL of my boxes will either be see thru - hello! Container Store - or will have a photograph stuck to the outside of the box, showing me what it contains. The latter is not likely to happen unless I figure out how to clone myself.

So as I work to organize one of the things I love most in this world - I know it is PATHETIC that shoes make this list - I have decided there is a key learning to be found here:

When I purchase something, I need to have a place to put it and a way to organize it. If I don't have space for it (the house is kinda big - sometimes there are 10 of us living here) I probably do not need it.

My word for 2015 is SIMPLIFY - so less is more. Yes, (insert nauseous feeling here) even when it comes to shoes.
